I earned my PhD in Biology under Dr. Harwood’s supervision in 2008. My research focused on the ecology and rapid detection of the marine pathogen Vibrio vulnificus. After completing my PhD I moved to Corpus Christi, TX for a post-doctoral position with Dr. Joanna Mott continuing my research in water quality and the ecology and detection of vibrios. In 2010 I was lucky to be able to go back to Dr. Harwood’s lab for a post-doctoral position. Back in the Harwood lab my research focused on rapid detection techniques for water quality monitoring.  Sadly, I had to leave the lab again in 2012 when my husband got a job in Fort Worth, TX.

Currently I am at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Here I manage a duo of core labs called the Discovery Centers. These labs are an open, innovation initiative by the HSC to:

1) Provide shared laboratory space for young researchers and clinical faculty members,
2) Make available supplemental instrumentation for researchers who don’t otherwise have access to critical capabilities,
3) And offer laboratory access to entrepreneurs and start-up companies enrolled in the UNT Health Science Center’s Acceleration Lab Program.
